Whitney to Teach in Dubai

Sean Whitney '09M

Sean Whitney, who graduated in December 2009 after earning a Master of Education and K-12 certification in Special Education, is on his way to Dubai with his family, where he will be teaching at the American School of Dubai.

“I am transitioning from being a middle school learning support teacher at FACT Charter School in Philadelphia’s Chinatown to a high school learning support teacher at the American School of Dubai (ASD),” says Whitney, who is moving with his wife (a middle school English teacher) and two young daughters.

“The American School of Dubai has had a strong reputation in academic excellence and in its extracurricular activities. It was reviewed by the Good Schools Guide International as ‘one of the best thought-of and long established schools in Dubai.’ The school offers the Advanced Placement (AP) for its students over a variety of subjects. Many ASD graduates have entered top schools,” notes Whitney. “Famous guest speakers who have visited the school include, most notably, Perez Hilton, followed by U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, North Carolina Senator and 2004 Democratic Nominee for Vice President John Edwards, anthropologist Jane Goodall, and even the Harlem Globetrotters.” Read more about ASD at www.asdubai.org.
