Get national exposure.
Melissa Leon ’11
My involvement in Arcadia’s Radio Station (the ARC) has given me a way to explore my creativity that in turn has opened many doors for me. I have connected with many Arcadia students, faculty, and staff from working with the radio station.
Since I’ve been involved with the ARC, we’ve gained national exposure, have contributed to the Armed Services, and updated our social media. We gained national exposure by having our playlist played in American Eagle Outfitters stores across the country. Over the summer, our members created a playlist of their favorite songs. I submitted the list to American Eagle’s College Radio Competition. They loved our playlist, and it played in all of their stores for a month. On their video screens, the words Arcadia University and the ARC were shown, as well as our website, with the songs that were chosen by our members.
The ARC also has given me many opportunities to meet new friends and to be involved in school events that bring Arcadia students together, like the Battle of the Bands. It also was a great way to become acquainted with members of the Arcadia staff, from Facilities to IT. I have gotten to know faculty members personally from the Communications Department who have been a great support.
