I challenged my view of the world.

Having never been on my own before, studying abroad was a learning experience on how to live independently—everything from grocery shopping, sticking to my budget, and organizing trips and outings on my own or with friends.
My first study abroad experience was during my first semester of college as a FYSAE student at the University of Stirling, Scotland.
Studying in Cairo required much more adjustment than studying in Scotland. Throughout the semester, I was faced with the challenges of learning a new language and adjusting to different perceptions of gender and other cultural differences.
Arcadia’s International Studies courses prepared me well for my time in Cairo, because the classes really challenge your views of the world. We gain a well-rounded understanding of not only the issues between and within nations, but also how we study this information and what flaws lie within our strategies of research.
