Summer Study Abroad Programs in Syracuse


The Arcadia University Mediterranean Center of Arts and Sciences (AUMCAS) offers three summer programs from which to choose in
Syracuse, Sicily:

Digging Abroad: Field School in Archaeology

Students will spend three weeks working on site, recording their findings in multifunctional classrooms at MCAS, discussing the main issues of field archaeology and engaging in cutting edge digital archaeology. All students will participate in a three-credit intensive Italian language course at a level commensurate with ability for the first three weeks of the program. No previous study of Italian language is required.

Marine Preservation: Conservation of Marine Biodiversity in the Mediterranean

Students will take part in an intense program in marine biology and conservation of marine ecosystem in collaboration with The Marine Protected Area of Plemmirio, a few kilometers south of Siracusa (Sicily) and the marine-protected area of Marettimo one of most beautiful Aegadian islands of west coast of Sicily. All students will participate in a three-credit intensive Italian language course at a level commensurate with ability for the first three weeks of the program. No previous study of Italian language is required.

La Famiglia Small Family Business Development Internship

Students will assist in research and development, finance and investment plans, sales, field study and marketing strategies while developing your Italian language skills. This program is available for undergraduate and graduate students in any academic discipline. All students will participate in a three-credit intensive Italian language course at a level commensurate with ability for the first three weeks of the program. No previous study of Italian language is required.
