First, the courses at UTS are progressive in nature, intellectually engaging and frequently industry-linked. Second, with a location in the very heart of Sydney, only minutes from the Central Railway Station and Darling Harbour, the classroom buildings interspersed with office buildings, restaurants, and shops add vibrance to the local environment. The surrounding community is the campus.

Whether your interest is in journalism, media studies, or writing, UTS offers communications courses with uniquely Australian perspective. In addition, you can take courses in business, law, environmental science, nursing, education, design and architecture, and inter-disciplinary courses in the social sciences at UTS. Other strong subject areas you may study include information technology and design.

Many of the academic programs reflect the urban location and history of applied courses of the institution. For example, you can take courses in urban ecology, or property management. At the same time, a department in social inquiry provides a great opportunity to take courses like contemporary cultures, Australian history and politics, or colonialism or modernity.


Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit:

  • Fall and spring semester: 16 credits.
  • Academic year: 32 credits.

Admission Requirements

GPA Requirements: 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation and an advisor's form before your application will be considered.
