Townsville Campus

Residential life at JCU Townsville is very active, and students find that the colleges provide them with the opportunity to pursue their interests in sport and campus life. Many halls are actively involved in the Fisher-Shield, an intercollegiate sports competition held every semester. 

Residential Colleges

George Roberts Hall

Built in 2002, George Roberts Hall provides fully-catered accommodation.  Students will have a single room in three and four bedroom air-conditioned suites, each with a small kitchenette and common lounge. Students are provided with a linen pack upon arrival. Students enjoy access to the facility’s volleyball, half basketball courts and swimming pool, all located within a short walk from campus.

Rotary International House

One of the smaller residential colleges at JCU, Rotary International House provides a social atmosphere that celebrates the cultural differences of its residents. Students at Rotary all have a single room in suite-style accommodation, with a shared kitchen. Students are provided with a linen pack upon arrival. There are numerous common areas, shared computer facilities and luscious gardens. This college is self-catering only. The Resident Student’s Association organizes regular social and sporting events.

St. Mark's Residential College

Centrally located on campus, St. Mark's provides fully-catered accommodation to students. Students are housed in single rooms in halls with shared bathrooms. St. Mark's organized regular social and sporting activities for students to become involved with. Students will be provided with a linen pack upon arrival.

Saints College

Located centrally at JCU, Saints College provides fully-catered accommodation for 300 students, including a women's-only wing. Residents are housed in private bedrooms on single-sex floors with shared bathrooms and common areas. A full meal plan is included. Linen is provided and room cleaning and laundering of linen is done weekly by the college. This college offers a supportive social and academic environment, promoting community living. 

University Hall

University Hall is JCU’s largest residential college, offering students a fully-catered meal plan. Linen is provided. Students are housed in single rooms that open out onto shared halls with shared bathrooms, common areas and kitchenettes. Located in the center of campus, University Hall also offers a volleyball court for its residents and organizes many social activities throughout the semester.

Cairns Campus

Student Apartments - Cairns Student Lodge

Cairns Student Lodge offers fully-catered accommodation conveniently located across from campus. A limited number of self-catering rooms are available. All student residents are housed in single rooms as a part of a three bedroom suite which includes a bathroom, kitchenette and shared common area. Linen packs are provided upon arrival. The Student Lodge offers a secure, friendly environment, is in close proximity to beaches, stores, and shops and includes a number of services and amenities.

Student Apartments - Cairns Sharehouse

Cairns Sharehouse offers self-catered accommodation located near Cairns city, a twenty-minute bus ride from campus. Students can choose from single or twin rooms in houses sharing kitchen, bathrooms and living areas. Each lockable room includes a bed, desk and storage closets. Linen and internet are provided, as is weekly cleaning and a 24 hour security call line. The houses are located within close proximity to Cairns city center, enabling easy access to services, public transport and shops.
