Arcadia Student Apartments

Students are housed in single rooms in shared apartments, managed by the University of Edinburgh. The University controls several blocks of student flats designed for student living. The flats usually accommodate 3 to 6 people and may be mixed gender. All bedrooms are single study rooms (w/ bed, desk and bureau). Utilities (heat/electric) are included in the housing fee you pay to Arcadia. Students are individually responsible for payment of phone bills. Cooking, dining and bathroom facilities are shared. Coin-operated laundry facilities are available in each building.

All housing is self-catered – no meal plan is provided. Students will need to prepare their own meals. You must provide your own cookware and cutlery. Our Edinburgh Center staff will be able to answer questions and offer suggestions on the best places to purchase these items after you arrive. It is suggested that £30 should be enough to cover the cost.

Arcadia will purchase a bedding pack on your behalf. Bedding packs include a duvet, bed linens and a pillow. You must supply your own towels.

Flat locations can be anywhere from a 10-minute walk to a 20-minute walk to the Arcadia Edinburgh Center, located in George Square area of the University of Edinburgh.

Phone and Internet Access

The Accommodation Services at Edinburgh provides ResNet in all campus accommodation. There is a phone in each bedroom, with voicemail and free calls to any other ResNet-equipped room. The phone will also provide normal call facilities to non-ResNet numbers at standard rates. Phone numbers for rooms are given to students on arrival. ResNet also provides connection facilities for restricted 24-hour access to the University Intranet, together with 24-hour access to the Internet. Some flats will have WiFi access in the common areas. Students may choose to bring a laptop to use in their rooms but will have to print in the computer lab facilities on campus for a small fee. Please note that laptops are not required! Many students use the excellent computer lab facilities available around the campus for all their work and Internet use.
