The Special Education program is designed around four major themes:

  1. Consultation and collaboration
  2. Inclusion and diversity
  3. Authenticity
  4. Reflection

Each course embeds these themes within the content of the course in the following ways: 1) Focusing on the necessity of consultation, collaboration, and team teaching to provide effective services that build communities of support for students; 2) Stressing inclusion as the default option for all students while striving to build communities of diverse individuals; 3) Authentic, meaningful instruction that addresses real needs of students and families; and 4) Critical interpretations of current teaching practices that foster growth and visionary programming.
