Master's Degrees and Teacher Certification

About the Art Education Master's Degree Program

The program is designed to allow students seeking a master’s degree to earn a certification in art (K–12) concurrently. The degree is not required for certification, and certification requirements may vary based on academic experience. See Certification Requirements.

Specific Admissions Requirement

In addition to the general admission requirements, students must have a portfolio review. Students with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts are exempt from this requirement. Arrangements for the portfolio review can be made in the Office of Enrollment Management. Students must have appropriate prerequisites for any Fine Arts studio courses taken at the graduate level.
