Financial Aid Application Process for Graduate Programs
*Note: For Fall 2013 & Spring 2014 semesters, complete the same steps listed below by November 1, 2013, using the 2013-2014 forms.
For Summer 2014 or Fall 2014 semesters, complete the following by April 1, 2014*:
Step One: Complete the 2014-2015 (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.fafsa.gov (be sure to list the Arcadia University Title IV Code #003235 on the FAFSA Form). Students should apply for a federal PIN (Personal Identification Number) at www.pin.ed.gov before completing the FAFSA if they do not have one already. The PIN can be used to make corrections to the FAFSA, and also serves as the student's e-signature when they file the FAFSA on-line.
Step Two: Click to complete the 2014-2015 Arcadia Financial Aid Application for Graduate Students.
Step Three: Click to complete a 2014-15 Graduate Student Federal Direct Stafford Loan Acceptance Form.
Step Four: Click to complete a Federal Direct Stafford Loan MPN (master promissory note).**
Step Five: Click to complete a Federal Direct Loan Entrance Counseling Session.**
Students applying for a Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan should do the following:
1. Click to complete a 2014-15 Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Pre-Approval Form. (This enables the University to perform a credit-check on borrower's behalf.)
2. Complete a Federal Direct PLUS MPN* (Master Promissory Note) online at www.studentloans.gov. Federal PIN required.
Those approved on a Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan will receive a revised award letter reflecting the Grad PLUS Loan. Those denied on the basis of credit will receive a notification directly from the U.S. Department of Education.
Students applying for any private, alternative student loans can do so at www.arcadia.edu/financingoptions.
*April 1, 2014 is priority application deadline for summer 2014/fall 2014 semesters; November 1, 2014 for Spring 2015 semester. Applications received after this date will still be processed on a rolling basis.
We encourage you to complete the FAFSA using estimated tax information. Once you file your 2013 federal taxes with the IRS, please return to www.fafsa.gov and select the IRS Data Retrieval option so that your FAFSA can be automatically updated with final IRS tax figures. In the event a student is randomly selected for verification by Federal Student Aid Programs upon filing the FAFSA and they have not selected the IRS Data Retrieval Tool,
or if you were not eligible to use the IRS
Data Retrieval option based on your filing status or were unable to
successfully transfer your federal tax information using the Tool, you must contact
the IRS to obtain a 2013 Tax Return
Transcript. You may obtain one
immediately via the IRS GetTranscript site, www.irs.gov/transcript. You can
immediately download a pdf of your tax transcript and email it to
firstname.lastname@example.org with the student’s name noted in the subject line of the
email, or mail it to the Financial Aid Office with your student’s name clearly
notated on it. If you have a filing extension or filed an amended tax return,
please contact your financial aid counselor for special instructions.
**Only required for first-time Direct Stafford Loan borrowers at Arcadia University.
