Special Programs are a selection of unique offerings that delve into relevant topics within particular academic disciplines or areas of study. These engaging, specialized programs, organized below by their core discipline or subject matter, are designed to benefit your educational and career development. Students are evaluated on a research project that includes a survey and interview format, including extensive research on potential Arcadia University contributing speakers.

GRADUATE EDUCATION

To be competitive professionally today, you have to continually build new skills. This summer, Arcadia’s School of Education offers efficient, effective ways to build essential career skills for the 21st century—inside K-12 classrooms and beyond.

Take advantage of Summer Sessions to enroll in the following certificate programs:

"Tech Savvy Teacher" Summer Institute
Become a more tech-savvy teacher this summer through an exclusive weekend institute with 4 weeks online follow-up study on incorporating Instructional Technology in the classroom.
Dates: May 16, 17, 18, plus 4 weeks online.


BEHAVIORAL STUDIES

Autism Institute
Accelerated hybrid course - Characteristics of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Dates: June 21 and July 18, in class, followed by 7 weeks online course work from June 21 through August 8. 


CREATIVE WRITING COURSES

A Summer Writer's Residency in Italy
Spend 13 days strengthening your craft as a writer of fiction, a writer of poetry—or both—in Umbria.
Dates: July 8-20, 2014 (Summer II)

This exciting residential experience combines intensive craft workshops and small cohort sessions with excursions to some of the great historic urban centers and hill towns of the Umbrian Valley, including Assisi, Bevagna, Montefalco, Orvieto and Perugia.

English 375/475, Umbrian Writer’s Residency is open to graduate students in the field of English, as well as to junior and senior undergraduates with demonstrated prior experience as creative writers, who are looking to earn academic credit for the experience.


Summer Creative Writing Workshops
One Weekend on Campus, Plus Four Weeks Online

  • Dates: In-person weekend: Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2014; Online workshops and exercises: June 30 - July 27, 2014
  • Three Choices: Intermediate Fiction and Poetry Workshop, Intermediate Children’s and Y.A. Workshop, or Introductory Fiction and Poetry Workshop
