Dorian Geisler
Poetry Instructor
Dorian Geisler holds an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His poetry has appeared in The Believer, LVNG, as well as other publications. He is an editor and co-founder of HOOT, a literary magazine based in Elkins Park.
A non-Cowboys fan, Dorian Geisler grew up in Dallas, TX, before attending U.C. Berkeley, where he studied philosophy and creative writing. He was a New York City Teaching Fellow; he taught high school English and creative writing in the Bronx following his graduation.
At the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he studied with poets James Galvin, Cole Swensen, and Elizabeth Robinson. He also taught creative writing. In the summer of 2011 he moved to the Philadelphia area and began teaching at the Community College of Philadelphia. He co-founded HOOT last October.
