FERPA
(Family Educational Rights & Privacy)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, popularly known as “FERPA” or the Buckley Amendment, is the federal law that governs the rights of students and the corollary responsibilities of institutions of higher education with respect to student education records. The law applies to all colleges and universities that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
