Faculty and Staff Campaigns Build Momentum
Inspired by the generosity and leadership of the University's Board of Trustees, two new Campaigns—one led by the Faculty and a second initiated by the Staff—have begun. Early response is truly impressive.
Faculty Campaign Inspired by Trustee Leadership
"Trustee giving is helping set the pace for the Faculty Campaign. We are seeking to build on this leadership support," says Dr. John Hoffman, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Co-Chair of the Faculty Campaign.
"If you believe in something, then you back it," echoes Dr. Lisa Holderman, Associate Professor of Communications and Co-Chair of the Faculty Campaign. "There are many ways that faculty already show their commitment to the quality of Arcadia's academic programs—with their time, dedication, knowledge and expertise. Many of the faculty we have contacted view the Campaign as another way that they can strengthen student growth and learning at Arcadia."
The Faculty Campaign offers at least two ways to support the Campaign. A faculty member may choose a specific Campaign priority or project. Another way to give is through the new "Triple Play," which makes it possible to support three major Campaign priorities with one gift (University Commons, Annual Fund and endowments for a student scholarship and a new Faculty Scholars and Artists Fund).
Early faculty support is most encouraging, with more than $75,000 raised in "advance gifts" made before the Faculty Campaign was announced.
Staff Campaign Poised to Set New Record for Giving
"One of the goals of our Staff Campaign is a high level of participation. But we also are thrilled with the gifts already being made to the Campaign. Even before launching the Campaign, staff members stepped forward and contributed more than $100,000," says Diana Bonner, Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs and Co-Chair of the Staff Campaign.
"With each group the Campaign touches, we are seeing people make their very best gifts. This early support shows that staff truly appreciate the importance of our Campaign in transforming the University," adds Eva Korolishin, Advancement Services Manager and Staff Campaign Co-Chair.
The Staff Campaign also offers contributors the opportunity to benefit specific projects and has its own version of the "Triple Play," an option for making one gift that funds the University Commons, Annual Fund and a Staff Endowed Scholarship for Students.
The first group to respond with 100 percent participation was the University's Executive Council. "After decades of waiting, it's exciting to see plans move forward to build the new University Commons," says Jan Walbert, Vice President for Student Affairs and Executive Council member. "My husband, Bruce, and I want to support the Campaign generously. We're proud that our gifts will have such a positive impact on new generations of students."
This Past Year, Nearly 1,000 Students Graduated from Arcadia
This is one of the largest classes in our history. The success of these graduates is a direct result of the extraordinary commitment made by our talented faculty and staff. Through the At Home & In the World—The Campaign for Arcadia University, faculty and staff can add to this impact and benefit the entire University.
