Pennsylvania has recently changed certification requirements for several programs. Please be aware that you must complete the current N-3, K-6, SPED K-12, and Dual Certificate (K-6/SPED K-12) requirements by May 15th, 2013. This means that you must complete all coursework, student teaching and must pass all PRAXIS by the end of Spring 2013 semester. All completed certification applications must be submitted to Mary Kate McNulty by August 1, 2013 at the latest. After August 2013, Pennsylvania will NO LONGER be issuing certificates for the current N-3, K-6, SPED K-12, and Dual certificates (K-6/SPED K-12). Any incomplete coursework, PRAXIS , student teaching or application will result in students being required to apply for the new certificate which will involve taking new coursework.
It is recommended that you meet with your academic advisor to map out your current program and answer any questions you may have. Time sensitive information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education will be posted on Blackboard and emailed to students. Please remember to check your arcadia email account regularly.
TEACHER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (TIMS) IS THE NEW ELECTRONIC PORTAL FOR PDE
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has launched an electronic application system for teacher certification and is no longer accepting paper applications as of January 2012. Candidates for certification are still required to submit a paper application (Instructional I & II application at the bottom of this page) to Mary Kate McNulty, Certification Officer, Graduate Studies, Taylor Hall, Room 105. Once the paper application and required documents are submitted to the Graduate Office the electronic application will be processed. The electronic application will take approximately 12 weeks for processing. See the Teacher Certification Instruction for TIMS presentation below for information on the electronic process.
Clearances are required for all graduate education programs. Information on clearances can be found at www.arcadia.edu/clearances
