New Computers should have the minimum following specifications:
- 2+ GHz processor for a laptop or a 3 GHz processor for a desktop
- 3-4 GB of RAM (Memory)
- 160 GB Hard Drive
- 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet adapter (network interface card)
- CD-RW or DVD-RW
- Wireless Network card (802.11b/g/n)
The type of system that each student needs varies depending upon what they plan to do while at college and how long they plan to use the system. The above specifications will meet the needs of most students, but a faster processor and more memory and hard drive space are preferable. When ordering a new computer, keep in mind that an extended warranty may alleviate future problems.
