Arcadia University Among Best Universities, Top Up-and-Coming in North in U.S. News Rankings

GLENSIDE, Pa., Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010─Arcadia University rises a notch among the Best Regional Universities in the North and is lauded in several other categories in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2011 rankings, released today.

  • Regional Universities in the North—Arcadia University ranks 29th among the top Regional Universities in the North, a ranking that heavily weights peer assessment, graduate rate and freshman retention rate.
  • Up-and-Coming Schools—Arcadia is one of only five regional universities in the North named to this list, which identifies universities that are making the “most promising and innovative changes in the areas of academics, faculty, and student life.”
  • Programs to Look For—In the ranking of “academic programs that are believed to lead to student success,” according to U.S. News, Arcadia is a leader in the Study Abroad category.
  • A+ Schools for B Students—This category ranks universities that “welcome and challenge serious B students with a desire to achieve,” the magazine reports. The regional university ranking and the freshman retention rate played a key role in this category, where Arcadia ranked 29th among regional universities in the North. SAT and ACT scores and class ranking also were factors.
