Arcadia University President Oxholm Announces Mark
Lapreziosa as Acting Vice President
of Enrollment Management
GLENSIDE, Pa., Friday, July 1, 2011—Arcadia University President Carl “Tobey” Oxholm III
announced the appointment of Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management
Mark Lapreziosa as the Acting Vice President of Enrollment Management.
“Arcadia is indeed fortunate to have someone of Mark’s
depth and breadth ready to take the lead in an area of such importance to our
future. Over the coming months, we will be working together to create a shared
vision of Arcadia’s future and the kinds of students whom we will be striving
to attract,” said President Oxholm. “This will require close collaboration
with many different academic and administrative units. The high regard in
which Mark is uniformly held across the University will ensure that we achieve
this critical objective.”
During Lapreziosa’s 26 years at Arcadia, he has become
known for his unfailing optimism and good humor, his technical expertise with
data, and his warm and supportive management style. He has seen the office grow
from the Admissions Office to a comprehensive Office of Enrollment Management,
which includes admissions, financial aid and the One-Stop Shop. And he has seen
the University more than double its enrollment, including a 250 percent
increase in undergraduate enrollment with significant increases in the academic
quality of the incoming classes.
Lapreziosa has met with high school students, parents
and educators around the world, talking about the opportunities that can be
found in American higher education and especially in liberal arts institutions.
He has helped students in China, England, France, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Panama, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand realize their (and their
families’) dreams of studying in the United States, and he has helped explain
to thousands of U.S. students how an academically qualified overseas experience
will be life-changing for them, as they are considering where to go to college.
Lapreziosa grew up locally, attending Owen J. Roberts
High School, and is a long-time resident of Lansdale, Pa., with strong family
ties in the area. He earned a degree in American Government at the University
of Virginia. He is a member of the National Association of College Admission
Counseling (NACAC), the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission
Counseling (PACAC), the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and
Admissions Officers (AACRAO), and NAFSA: the Association of International Educators.
