Albert Einstein Hospice ProgramThe Hospice uses a holistic approach to counseling and caring for the terminally ill. Their diverse clientele remain at home with the support and assistance of the Hospice. Volunteers may go to homes and assist caregivers, play with the children, or perform office tasks including bereavement support by phone. Flexible hours and internships are available. This organization hosts special events.

Children's Hospital of PhiladelphiaVolunteers will work in both in- and -out patient areas assisting the child life department. Volunteers divert children's attention away from their tension and illness. Training is provided. There is a required commitment of 3 months for 2 hours per week.

Cheltenham Nursing and Rehab Center is looking for volunteers to help with patients. Especially translators for those who know Russian, Chinese or Spanish.

Chestnut Hill Healthcare
Chestnut Hill Hospital offers a Pre-Med program every summer for six weeks. Four students are selected for this program. The program last six weeks and volunteers observe procedures in the surgical suites. They are permitted to attend rounds, office hours and resident lectures. In, addition, students are expected to work several shifts in the emergency department.

Grandview Hospital
Volunteers go through an extensive interview, drug screening and orientation, and must purchase a uniform. Opportunities are available in the Emergency Room and I.C.U., and other patient care areas. Evening and weekend hours are available. Career shadowing available through Linda Kysoby, Health Promotion and Wellness Department.

Holy RedeemerVolunteers are needed for a variety of positions which include clerical, gift shop cashier, dietary aides, patients assistants, child care helpers, and transporters. Knitters are also needed for “Baby Cap” Program. Help is needed to knit caps for babies delivered at Holy Redeemer and require surgery or being put in the neonatal unit. Knitting instructions and yarn are supplied. Internships are offered.

IHM Summer Volunteer ProgramThe IHM Summer volunteer program is in need of volunteers who will commit 2-12 weeks of service. Volunteers are needed in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and North Carolina. Volunteers are needed as nurses, aides, therapists, office duties, summer day care aides, refudee & outreach services. Opportunities are also available during the year for woman over the age of 21.

Norristown State HospitalNorristown State Hospital serves mentally ill patients, and is looking for volunteers to help with this service. Volunteers are needed for many things varying from office work to one-on-one activities with the patient. Volunteer hours are very flexible, and orientation is provided.

Visiting Nurses Association (VNA)
Volunteers are needed to visit the ill and homebound, run errands, shop, and visit hospice patients. Orientation is provided. VNA is a department of Abington Hospital. Must be 18 year old or older.
