What to Bring/Not to Bring Checklist

Arcadia University provides the following for each student in a traditional residence hall room…

  • Bed Frame and Mattress (twin, extra-long)
  • Desk and Desk Chair
  • Dresser
  • Closets
  • Satellite Cable TV - free for all students
  • Internet access – all residence hall rooms have access to the University's high-speed wireless and Ethernet networks.  In order to utilize Arcadia's network,  you must complete on online registration process for each computer and handheld device.  

Arcadia University provides the following for each student in a traditional residence hall…

  • Laundry Rooms – washers and dryers are free of charge.
  • Housekeeping service for each common area, common bathroom and lounge area.
  • Guest Rooms in Kistler, Dilworth and Heinz Halls.
  • Flat screen TVs with DVD capability in the Kistler, Dilworth and Heinz main lounges
  • Kitchens in each Knight Hall lounge.

The following is a list of items that Arcadia University's Residence Life staff suggests you bring with you...

  • Sheets – twin, extra-long
  • Egg crates or mattress pads
  • Pillows
  • Towels
  • Shower Shoes or Flip Flops
  • Shower Caddy
  • Alarm Clock
  • TV and DVD/BluRay player
  • Iron with an automatic shutoff and Ironing Board
  • Kitchen Utensils
  • Air Fresheners
  • White Board for door
  • Power Strip/Surge Protector
  • Trash Can
  • Fan
  • S – Hooks (Only Kistler, Dilworth and Heinz Halls have S-Hook strips around the perimeter of the rooms)
  • Storage Crates
  • Laundry Supplies
  • Decorations
  • Poster putty or removable adhesive strips – students are responsible for damage to their walls and furniture at the end of the year!

The following is a list of items that Arcadia University's Residence Life staff suggests you leave at home... 

  • Alcohol - If you are under the age of 21.
  • Water beds
  • Air conditioners
  • Toaster ovens
  • Sun lamps
  • Space heaters
  • Extention Cords - Other than surge protectors
  • Pets - Other than fish in a tank no larger than 10 gallons
  • Ceiling fans
  • Refrigerators larger than 3.2 cubic feet
  • Microwave ovens - Other than those leased or purchased through an authorized University vendor
  • Lamps with exposed bulbs
  • Halogen lamps without approved covers
  • Candles
  • Incense
  • Grills - George Foreman, charcoal, or gas burning
  • Coffee makers without automatic shut off
  • Bottled gas appliances
  • Any device that has an exposed heating element and does not have automatic shut-off
  • Wall & ceiling coverings
