Alternative Spring Break 2015!
Our annual Alternative Spring Break service trip took place this March! Forty Arcadians traveled to New Iberia, Louisiana from March 15th to March 21st. While there, students were able to interact with residents to help build a strong, healthy and prosperous rural community, on top of experiencing the local culture. We worked with the non-profit organization Southern Mutual Help and our projects included hydroponics and construction work - we had a great time getting our hands dirty!
Dr. Seuss Day 2015!
Arcadia University’s Office of Community Service celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday Grey Towers Castle with Dr. Seuss Day event on Sunday, Feb. 22. Children from the community accompanied by an adult came out to enjoy a fun-filled day of activities including bingo, face painting, button making, obstacle courses, memory games, and freeze dancing.
The Dr. Seuss event was established in honor of Jami Rodriguez, an Arcadia alumna, and continues in her memory. The event collected over $100 in donations that went toward the Jami Rodriguez Scholarship, which recognizes the contributions current full-time undergraduates have made to campus life through dedication to community service.
Stay tuned for next year's celebration!

The Corporation for National and Community Service has named Arcadia University to the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Selection to the honor roll is recognition from the highest levels of the federal government of Arcadia’s commitment to service and civic engagement on the campus and in the world. Arcadia Community Service Receives Presidential Award!
“President Obama has pledged to make service a central cause of his administration and wishes to commemorate the significant role that higher institutions, their students, staff, and faculty play in helping to solve pressing social problems in the nation’s communities,” according to the Honor Roll website.
Each year, beginning with New Student Orientation, Arcadia students, faculty, staff and alumni perform thousands of hours of community service.
Arcadia also was named to the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 Honor Roll. The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, launched in 2006, annually recognizes institutions of higher education for their commitment to and achievement in community service. The President’s Honor Roll increases the public’s awareness of the contributions that colleges and their students make to local communities and the nation as a whole.
