If you tell Stephen Tyson ’13M that the Earth is flat, he won’t just laugh you off—especially if you insult his uncle, famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, in the process.

When best-selling hip-hop artist B.o.B. challenged the claims of Pythagoras, Aristotle, Magellan, NASA, and others by professing his beliefs in the Flat Earth Theory—which claims that the spherical nature of the Earth is a ruse—deGrasse Tyson took to Twitter to combat the rapper’s claims.

B.o.B. then released “Flatline,” a track aimed at disproving and ridiculing the Cosmos host.

Now, Stephen Tyson, a graduate of the International Peace and Conflict Resolution program and student in the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program, has fired back at B.o.B. with a track of his own, “Flat to Fact,” to defend both his uncle and common sense.

“I think anytime people are so drastically misinformed, someone needs to step in and put them in check,” said Tyson. “Hopefully my response will serve as a one-and-done for anyone else who believes the Earth is flat or dares to insult Neil deGrasse Tyson.”

The track, available on SoundCloud and Youtube, currently has more than 800,000 plays.
