Hometown: Schwenksville, Pa.

Major: Media & Communication – Multimedia Publishing concentration

Minor: Creative Writing

Extracurriculars: I’m currently the editor-in-chief of Loco Mag, an off-campus student magazine, which I’ve been involved in for the past few years. I’m also involved in Quiddity Literary Magazine as an editor and social media manager, and The Compass as their layout manager. Writing and editing are big passions of mine so I’ve gravitated towards anything that involves those things.

Favorite Arcadia memory: Honestly, I just love soaking up the day-to-day campus life—walking to Wawa with my roommate, working and joking around with my Loco Mag team, and even just hanging out on campus on the first warm day of the year when everyone is outside on the green for the first time. I think it’s the little moments that make up my favorite memories of Arcadia.

Post-grad plans: I don’t have my heart set on any one particular thing yet, I’m mostly open to wherever life takes me. I plan on experimenting a little bit with different types of marketing and communications jobs right after graduation to see what I like and don’t like. I would also really love to explore the publishing industry. We’ll see!

Miller was awarded both the Kusum Kulkarni Award for Academic Excellence and the Gerald L. Belcher Endowed Writing Award at this year’s Honors Convocation. “Jewel Miller is a creative dynamo and an intellectual problem-solver, whose work is characterized by her generosity and conviction,” explained the faculty who nominated her for the Kusum Kulkarni Award. “She is also an invaluable member of the creative community on campus, an accomplished photographer, creative writer and editor, and a leader in campus publications like Quiddity and Loco Mag.”
