Knight to Know: Madison Sechrist ’24
Hometown: Mount Wolf, Pa.
Major: Psychology and Spanish
Extracurriculars: Member of Psi Chi & Phi Kappa Phi honor societies and loves to kickbox!
Favorite Arcadia memory: My favorite Arcadia memory would be having the opportunity to study abroad in Granada, Spain. Not only did I end up meeting my best friend from Arcadia, but I also had the opportunity to speak the language I love (Spanish) and work with Spanish children. (Helping Spanish/Latino youth is something I am really passionate about!) It was an incredible and invaluable experience.
Post-grad plans: I have applied to PsyD (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology) programs and am currently going through the interview process! I am aiming to be a clinical psychologist and hope to use my global passion to positively contribute to multiculturalism in mental health care.
At this year’s Honors Convocation, Sechrist was awarded both the Krug Family Award for Excellence in Modern Language Study and the Robert L. Swaim Award. “She has demonstrated her potential to make substantial contributions to the field of psychology and will, therefore, thrive in the next chapter of her journey in higher education,” remarked the faculty who nominated her for the Robert L. Swaim Award.
