Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice Presents Criminology Symposium
The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice and the Criminal Justice Society will present the New Directions in Criminology Symposium on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the Castle Dining Room. The event is free and open to the public.
Presentations include:
11 a.m.
Alumna Viola Sawyer ’15, a PhD candidate studying Criminology at Western Michigan University: “Investigating Intersecting Identities, Attitudes Towards Police Violence, and Strategies for Social Change.”
1 p.m.
Dr. Victoria Collins, associate professor in the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University: “Consumption of the Patriarchy.”
2 p.m.
Dr. Chris Przemieniecki, assistant professor of Criminal Justice at West Chester University; alumna Samantha Compitello ’17; and Josiah Lindquist, a student at West Chester University: “Juggalos: Family or Gang? A Participant Observation Study.”
3 p.m.
Dr. Travis Linnemann, assistant professor in the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University: “Proof of Death: Police Power and the Visual Economies of Seizure, Accumulation and Trophy.”
5 p.m.
A reception will be held in the Stein Fireplace Lounge.
