Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice Dr. Allan Branson stars in the documentary, “Black Serial Killers: Truth or Fiction?” now available on Amazon Prime Video and Tubi.

Produced, written, and directed by Sean Reid, the documentary is based on Dr. Branson’s doctoral research on African American serial killers being largely ignored by the media, which he has written about in several journal articles and a book titled “The Anonymity of African American Serial Killers: A Continuum of Negative Imagery from Slavery to Prisons.”

“The key points suggest that historic U.S. racial bias and media representations of serial killers have created a false narrative regarding these perpetrators,” explained Dr. Branson. “This narrative creates a blindspot thwarting law enforcement agents’ efforts to arrest these offenders.”

Though he has been interviewed for other publications and a podcast in 2021, this documentary further illuminates Dr. Branson’s significant criminological research.

“What makes this different is that my work will be afforded more national attention and hopefully much of what I learned will filter into law enforcement agencies regarding these predators,” he added. “As far as future documentaries I am open to it. Whatever it takes to illuminate this issue, especially for law enforcement agents as well as a potentially vulnerable public is a good thing and welcomed.”
