Arcadia University Theater presents three diverse productions in the Spring 2019 semester at the Spruance Fine Arts Center Mainstage and Grey Towers Castle. Productions run Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m. with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Through March 3, students will perform Crimes of the Heart at the Mainstage. Winner of the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, Crimes of the Heart follows the three Magrath sisters— each with grave (yet hilarious) problems— as they gather in Mississippi with their grandfather, who is living out his final hours. With a cast of young, confused, and awkward characters trying to escape the past and seize the future, the show lingers in the mind long after the curtain closes.

Then, from March 28 to 31, experience an immersive performance at Grey Towers Castle for Hedda Gabler. A timeless class, this Henrik Ibsen drama follows the independent, striking, and powerful Hedda as she struggles to escape a loveless, ordinary existence and exercise her wild whims. With the return of an old flame and a proposition from an amorous judge, Hedda begins a dangerous game, manipulating and destroying everyone around her in an attempt to regain control of her life.

Finally, from April 4 to 14, take a dark, mysterious, musical journey into the heart and soul of Edgar Allan Poe with Nevermore on the Mainstage. This story of love, personal demons and self-discovery delves into the mind of Poe with disturbing yet relatable charm.  Poe’s poetry is transformed into soaring musical numbers creating a timeline that lures the audience into his world.

Students are admitted for free– although a ticket is required. Seniors and Arcadia alumni can purchase $10 discount tickets, and general public tickets are $15.
