Students Create Award-winning Domain at Hackathon Competition
Turner, Mueller and Chebatarev at the Hackathon
Computer Science and Mathematics majors Jules Turner ’20, Nicole Mueller ’19, and Alexandr Chebatarev ’22 attended a Hackathon at West Chester University from March 30 and 31. Hackathon is a 24-hour event during which teams of students from local universities develop projects.
Together with student Jonny Perez from Penn State Harrisburg, the Arcadia team created a web application that automatically chooses eateries for indecisive foodies. The website asks for your location, then finds a restaurant within a 10-mile radius. It uses Google Maps and an application programming interface (API) to provide information about the place with an interactive map.
The Arcadia team was awarded the “Best Domain Registered with Domain.com” award, and received a Raspberry Pi & PiHut Essentials Kit.
Hack WCU was hosted by West Chester Computer Science Club.
