Julie M. Skrzat, PT, DPT PhD, is an Assistant Professor. She earned her BS, MS, and DPT degrees from Ithaca College. Upon completion of her entry-level physical therapy training, Dr. Skrzat pursued a PhD from Temple University, where she studied muscle fatigue and recovery in patients who were critically ill. During this time, she became an APTA board certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Specialist.
Dr. Skrzat’s research interests include optimizing functional outcomes for patients who are critically ill, the use of simulation in physical therapy education, and interprofessional experiences in physical therapy education. Her work has been presented at local, state, and national conferences, and published in various journals. Currently, Dr. Skrzat is collaborating with Lehigh Valley Health Network to study factors related to readmission in patients with heart failure. She is the author and editor of Clinical Case Studies Across the Medical Continuum for Physical Therapists.
Dr. Skrzat is a member of the APTA Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy and Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy. She is currently the Section Program Chair for the Academy of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy.
