The Department of Public Safety is happy to announce updates for the spring 2022 semester.

Located on the first floor of Dilworth Hall, the Public Safety office has updated its space to be more functional for officers and the Arcadia community. Upgraded areas and technology provide better security views of the campus with new monitors and more work space for officers.

The Command Center was remodeled into the new state-of-the-art Communications and Operations Center with updated technology and work stations. The old Facilities office was renovated to be the new Conference and Training room that will provide a location for training and meetings, and has additional office work spaces. An Interview Room was also added to provide a separate and safe area for reporters and victims of crimes to report incidents.

In addition, uniforms were redesigned to have a more approachable feel, easily recognizable presence and encourages interactions between Officers and community members.

“Improving our work environment enhances quality customer service offered by the department,” said Ruth Evans, director of Public Safety. “Public Safety can better support reporters of incidents, has modern work space for staff, and a training/conference room for staff development as well as an emergency operations center for critical campus incidents.”

Arcadia’s Public Safety department provides a number of resources for all campus areas and faculty/staff and students including safety escorts, vehicle assistance, and emergency call boxes. They also provide safety education, security services and CCTV monitoring, and complete investigations of reported incidents on campus. The office of Public Safety has a Director, Deputy Director, 3 Shift Sergeants, 7 full time officers and 14 part-time/on-call officers, with at least three Officers on-duty 24/7.
