40 Under 40: Emily Scott ’09

I always wanted to have my own business, and the education I received at Arcadia has been invaluable to my success as a female entrepreneur. I developed a wide skill set—from accounting and branding to business practices—and that, paired with the knowledgeable and supportive faculty, prepared me for success as I launched and continue to grow my business. I also appreciated that Arcadia encourages personal, as well as academic growth, through unique programs such as Preview, study abroad opportunities, and a wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities—all of which I took advantage of as an undergraduate.

Building and growing my business, especially at such a young age. Being an entrepreneur has been my goal since I was a child. It was scary to take that leap to chase my childhood dream and turn it into a reality, but it’s been worth it. I launched my boutique a few years after I graduated from Arcadia (at age 24), and a little more than five years later, I am proud of how my business has grown and continues to thrive.
