A week ago, students from Arcadia’s Environmental Network had their own groundbreaking event to start off the new vegetable garden on campus.

Gardening is a great way to relieve stress, learn about plants, grow your own food, and connect with others interested in gardening. We have spent several days working in the garden already, tilling up the ground, laying out beds, picking out rocks, and edging paths with bricks.

We are looking forward to growing a variety of vegetables including basil, beans, carrots, pumpkins, arugula, and sunflowers. The seeds are on their way, and we’ll be planting them soon.

It is our hope that the garden will expand to become an outdoor learning environment for Arcadia classes and a means for the Arcadia community to connect with our neighbors in Glenside and beyond. We always welcome volunteers, whether you know something about gardening or not. The idea is to get outside and have fun digging in the dirt.
