“…The Beaver College Art Gallery opens its annual, juried ‘Works on Paper’ exhibition Wednesday, April 3, with a public reception, 7 to 9 p.m., in the gallery on the campus at Church and Easton roads.

“Supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the show includes 30 works by 30 area artists. In conjunction with the exhibition, Innis Shoemaker, senior curator of prints, drawings and photographs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, will present a lecture on Wednesday, April 10 at noon in the Beaver College Little Theatre. The exhibition and lecture are free and open to the public.

“Laura Trippi, curator of the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, served as juror for this year’s exhibition, selecting the participants from 350 submissions, and choosing a wide range of mediums, techniques and subject matter. Works selected include drawings on paper and wood, an artist’s book, a piece of Chinese silk paper and beeswax, lithographs, silkscreens and black and white silver prints.

“The majority of the artists in the exhibition are from Philadelphia and include Rone Del Adamczyk (19134), Rachel Bliss (19123), Connie Coleman (19130), Drew Dominick (19120), Carl Fudge (19103), V. “Other artists selected include: Virginia Gibbons and Richard March of Elins Park; Hank Jaffe of Jenkintown; Neila Kun of Villanova, David Kettner and Scott Nyerick of Wyncote, Reena S. Milner of Dresher and Jack Pierce Givvons of Cherry Hill, NJ.

“‘We continue to be gratified by both the high number of submissions to this exhibition and the excellent quality of the work,’ noted Beaver College Gallery Director Paula Marincola. Prizes and awards will be announced within the next two weeks and these include: The Philadelphia Museum of Art award; the Beaver College Purchase Award; the Mildred Bougher Award; the Director’s Prize and the Friends of the Beaver College Art Gallery awards for the emerging artists.
