Students Connect with Employers at Internship and Career Fair

Arcadia University’s Office of Career Development organized its Spring Internship and Career Fair, which gave students an incredible opportunity to connect with employers in-person. Numerous students came dressed to impress as they handed out résumé s and earnestly presented their qualifications to employers.
Thirty-three organizations—from the United States Army to Kolber Marketing—were on site looking for potential interns. Cynthia Nichols, Employer Relations Coordinator, noted that links employers’ job listings were added to Arcadia’s Career Development website, so students could see what positions were available ahead of time and prepare accordingly. “This is an amazing opportunity for students to have that ability to connect with employers that they wouldn’t normally have the ability to do so,” she exclaimed.
Employers that have attended previous Arcadia internship fairs, such as Radio Disney WWJZ AM 640, have always been impressed with the students and positive atmosphere. “Personally, I think Arcadia is a wonderful institution, and we enjoy attending the career fairs here,” said Kelly Schemp, production manager at Radio Disney WWJZ AM 640.
Frank Hartwell, the education program director for the community service organization Impact Thrift, was happy to find potential interns at the event. After talking about the enthusiasm and energy of past Arcadia interns he’s had, Hartwell said, “We love being here (Arcadia), and I’ve had great success here in the past and look forward to our continued partnership with Arcadia.”
Ethan Armstrong ’12 said he appreciates that Arcadia organizes so many career development events to help students prepare to enter the workforce and advance their careers. “I came here to find the stepping stone to the future, and I think it’s a good opportunity to see what’s out there.”
The Internship and Career Fair was extremely successful with a great turnout. Stephenie Wilson, Assistant Director of Career Education, said that the event goes a long way in helping students get ready for the ultra competitive job market. “I think it prepares students for the job market and presenting themselves as professionals as it’s allowing them to see what networking looks like in real life.”
Wilson added that it allows “employers to also see how well prepared our students are to potentially work for them.”
