Hooker Presents at the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies
Dr. Steven D. Hooker, assistant professor of education in the Department of Leadership for Educational Equity and Excellence, was invited to present his research at the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies (AAACS) conference in Glenside, which took place March 31-April 3.
“Can Teachers Safely Integrate LGBT Issues Into Their Curriculum or School Communities?”, the first paper presented, identifies how educators from both the midwest and northeast part of the United States could integrate LGBT issues into their curriculum and school practices and roles.
The second, “Lesbian & Gay Educators Functioning in Heteronormative Schools,” examines how lesbian and gay educators from the Midwest—in both public and Catholic schools—negotiate their sexual identities in their school settings.
