M.B.A. Graduate Serves as International Liaison
By Sarah R. Schwartz ’10
For several years, Sara Colvin ’09M.B.A. has been employed by Ascensus, a 401K record-keeping firm in Dresher, Pa., and she is using the tools she obtained in the classroom to advance her career. At Arcadia, Colvin learned how to successfully run and operate a company—large or small—with a global vision. These skills are invaluable in the current international market.
As a Reconciliation Specialist, Colvin acts as a liaison to clients in India. Her newly acquired expertise is noticeable, and she recently earned a promotion. “Arcadia’s M.B.A. really helped me with international communication,” she says.
Reflecting on her education, Colvin favored Arcadia’s unique cohort structure, which allowed her to learn alongside the same people throughout the program—both in the classroom and in the world. Colvin’s classmates, Cohort Eight, spent a week in both Costa Rica and Spain. “The seven-week class length made the whole experience very attractive and enjoyable,” she says.
Colvin also was drawn to Arcadia’s M.B.A. program because of its convenient location and affordable tuition. She was impressed by the accelerated format. With the one-night-a-week class schedule, students earn the degree in less than two years.
In addition to her dedication to Ascensus, Colvin also has ambitious personal goals. Since graduation, she has returned to Costa Rica for recreation. “My experiences overseas helped to broaden my perspective,” she says. “Arcadia opened my mind to diverse cultures as well as different ways of working and living.”
Now, Colvin can be spotted back in Arcadia’s classrooms. She is currently working toward a certificate in Global Business Diplomacy—further proof that with a distinctly global learning experience the sky is the limit.
