The National Constitution Center’s Director of Theatre Programs Nora Berger-Green, who also is an Adjunct Professor at Arcadia University, has been named a “Creative Connector” in the Philadelphia area by Leadership Philadelphia, a 52-year-old non-profit, non-partisan organization that mobilizes professionals to serve the community. Berger-Green was recognized for her work “to integrate theater into educational programs about constitutional issues, with the goal of spurring conversations among visiting students.” She joins a list of distinguished professionals whose work showcases the value of arts in the community, according to the announcement on Broadway World.com.

“Through the creation and execution of innovative, thought-provoking theater programs, Nora has helped the National Constitution Center transcend the traditional museum experience and bring American Freedom to life for our visitors,” said National Constitution Center President & CEO David Eisner. “Nora’s creativity and passion have served this institution and Philadelphia in remarkable ways and I extend my congratulations to her for this well-deserved recognition.”

Nora Berger-Green joined the Center in 2003 to help produce and manage the award-winning theatrical performance Freedom Rising. She is the co-creator of the Center’s Living News show, a live theatrical performance that introduces students to controversial constitutional issues in the news. Berger-Green most recently served as co-artistic director and project director for Fighting for Democracy: Who is the “We” in “We the People”?, a groundbreaking exhibit-theater hybrid that traces the real-life experiences of a diverse group of seven Americans who bravely fought for equality, freedom and justice overseas and at home during the World War II era.

In addition to her responsibilities at the Center, Berger-Green serves as an adjunct professor at Arcadia University and as a consultant on integrating theater and museum programming. She has worked extensively in professional theater and folk music communities along the East Coast, including: Americans for the Arts, Arden Theatre Company, Azuka Theatre, Broadway on Broadway, Canadian Folk Alliance, Center Stage, Folger Theatre, Mum Puppettheatre, National Folk Alliance, People’s Light & Theatre, Philadelphia Folksong Society, Radio City Productions, Theatre Exile and Wilma Theater. She serves on the Board of Directors for Theatre Exile and Xtreme Folk Scene and is an advisory committee member for White Pines Productions.
