Students in Cohort 14 of Arcadia’s M.B.A. with a Global Perspective program will depart for Lima, Peru, on Sept. 17 for their second international business experience. The one-week experience will allow the students to examine cultural, social and economic models within a developing economy. The group studied in Singapore in November 2010, where they learned about doing business in a developed economy.

In Lima, students will visit the U.S. Embassy and the Institute for Liberty and Democracy, a policy institute devoted to the promotion of property rights in developing countries. Students will discuss the past, present and future of the Peruvian economy with the Chief Economist at the Central Reserve Bank of Peru and will learn about the manufacturing presence in Peru and its role in the economic future from the CEO at Backus and Johnston, the largest brewery in Peru.

The cohort will also visit Maple Energy, one of Peru’s leading energy companies, and Odebrecht, a Brazilian conglomerate in engineering, construction, chemicals and petrochemicals, to discuss corporate social responsibility in Peru’s energy industry.

During their time in Lima, students will have the opportunity to tour Palomino Island and the Pachacamac Ruins and to participate in a city tour of Lima, including the San Francisco Convent, the Cathedral of Lima and the Larco Museum.

After their return from Lima, the students will complete their program of study with Global Strategic Management, a capstone course that focuses on strategies and practices at global corporations and brings together what students have learned in class and in other countries.
