Hospedales Named Assistant Vice President of Human Resources
Arcadia is pleased to announce the appointment of Rhonda Hospedales as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. Hospedales, who most recently served as Senior Human Resources Manager (2010-2013) and Associate Director for Emergency Preparedness Planning at Princeton University (2013-2015), joins Arcadia on September 1.
In her most recent position at Princeton, Hospedales was responsible for facilitating a comprehensive review and update of Princeton’s Emergency Preparedness Plans and improving the programs and communications supporting emergency response. As Senior Human Resources Manager, Hospedales managed employee and labor relations cases as regulated by state/federal laws, developed and implemented a comprehensive workplace investigations training presentation and manual, and managed a cross-functional team of human resource professionals.
In addition to serving as Senior Human Resource Manager at Princeton, Hospedales also was Labor Relations Manager/Specialist from 2008 to 2010, where she provided labor and employee relations consultation services to various departments and human resource professionals. Prior to her work at Princeton, Hospedales, who also has a strong background in law, served as Assistant General Counsel for the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her work in the Virgin Islands also included managing the St. Croix Legal Office, including recruitment, supervision, motivation, and evaluation of employees. She also served as Assistant Legal Counsel for the Legislature of the Virgin Islands and as a Judicial Law Clerk for Superior Court Chief Judge Maria M. Cabret.
“We are so very pleased to have someone as experienced and knowledgeable in the complex and ever-evolving field of human resources as Rhonda Hospedales,” said President Nicolette DeVille Christensen. “Her experience at Princeton University and in the U.S. Virgin Islands will enhance not only Arcadia’s Human Resources department, but also aligns with the mission of Arcadia University worldwide. In addition, I would like to thank all of the members of the Search Committee for their invaluable work in this process. Their efforts are much appreciated.”
Hospedales holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Providence College in Rhode Island and a juris doctorate from Indiana University School of Law. She earned a Senior Professional in Human Resources Certification, is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, and is a Certified Developmental Dimensions International Learning Systems facilitator.
“There were a number of highly qualified candidates for this position, but Rhonda clearly separated herself from the group,” said Margaret “Margie” Callahan, Associate General Counsel for Arcadia who chaired the Search Committee for the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources position. “She brings with her the experience, expertise, and skills needed to successfully lead in this position, and we are very much looking forward to working with Rhonda.”
