32 Students to Perform at Kennedy Center Theater Festival
Arcadia University’s award-winning theater department will be taking 32 students to the Region II Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival at Towson University in Towson, Md., Jan. 11-16.
Twelve of the 32 students were nominated for their performances: Lauren Myers, a senior Acting major for Criminal Hearts; Beth Seybert, a senior Acting major for Criminal Hearts; Morgan Everitt, a senior Acting major for The Physicists; Mary DeCarlo, a senior Acting major for The Physicists; Taysha Canales, a senior Theater Arts and English Major with a minor in Education for Vanities; Lauren Suchenski, a junior in the Honors program and a Theater Arts and English major for Vanities; Stephanie Stephens, a junior Acting major for Vanities
; Alex Pappaterra, a sophomore Acting major for Doubt; Brianna Pope-McBride, a junior Theater Arts and English major for Doubt; Kara Boland, a senior Acting major for The Glass Menagerie; and Trevor Foehl, a sophomore Acting major for The Glass Menagerie.
These students also have been nominated to compete for the Irene Ryan scholarship, which provides recognition and financial assistance to outstanding student performers interested in pursuing further education. The Irene Ryan Foundation awards sixteen regional and two national scholarships annually. Each student will work with a partner to compete to compete to represent the region at the National Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in Washington, D.C., in April.
Ellen Podolsky, a senior Theater Arts and English major, was awarded a Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Directing from the Festival for directing Doubt.
