School of Business Hosts Networking Reception on Boathouse Row
The School of Business welcomed students, alumni, faculty and staff to the Crescent Boat Club along historic Boathouse Row for a networking reception on Nov. 17. The event allowed senior undergraduate Business majors to meet M.B.A. students and alumni and provided the opportunity for interaction across cohorts within the M.B.A. program.
Several faculty members from the School of Business joined the reception, including Thomas Brinker, Executive Director of the M.B.A. program, Dr. Wayne Morra, Chair of the School of Business, and adjunct professors Dr. Karen Lawson, John Fusco, Anna McAleer, and Glenn Cronin. Also in attendance were Kristen Wiesenhutter, Assistant to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and business leaders Joe Cirelli, a member of Arcadia University’s Business Advisory Board and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Pep Boys, and Raymond Lamorgese, Vice President and Financial Planning Specialist for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and adjunct professor teaching Global Strategic Management, the culmination course in the M.B.A. program.
Bill Shea, Vice President of the Crescent Boat Club, welcomed Arcadia guests and shared the history of the rowing club, which is one of 10 along Boathouse Row. A member of the United States Rowing and the Schuylkill Navy, the boathouse supports the crew teams of Roman Catholic High School and Merion Mercy High. In addition to high school programs, the boathouse offers community programs such as Novice Camp and summer racing programs for junior, senior, open and masters rowers.
“The fall reception gave senior Business and Health Administration majors the opportunity to socialize outside of class with other students and professors—and also to begin to network with M.B.A. students and Arcadia alumni,” said Brittany Bonvino, a senior Business Administration major. “It was interesting to learn about the history of Boathouse Row and the ongoing restoration of the Crescent Boat Club.”
The event was a first for recent alumnus Adam Lorber, M.B.A.’11, General Manager of the Camden Riversharks. “Considering we are fairly isolated within our own cohort, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet members of earlier cohorts and learn about their experiences within the program, as well as how their M.B.A. degrees have helped the progression of their careers. One of the core purposes that motivated me to pursue my M.B.A. was to take advantage of networking opportunities, and this event was a positive step in building future relationships.”
