Arcadia University students are accustomed to going to foreign countries to experience a  different culture, so it was only fitting that they would host a group from a foreign nation looking to do the same.

Not many people associate the sport of lacrosse with Japan, but on Saturday, March 8, Arcadia’s women’s lacrosse team hosted a team from Japan that is playing in a series of exhibition games as it tours the Northeast. The two teams took part in a combined warm-up before playing a 50-minute game. Following the game, the two teams exchanged gifts before the Japanese team took a tour of Grey Towers Castle.

Arcadia University has been a leader in international education for more than 65 years, since then-Beaver College first began sending students to study in post-war Europe. That legacy continues to be part of the Arcadia ethos.

Arcadia was once again recognized as number one in the United States in its respective category for study abroad participation, according to the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange 2013. Arcadia University has retained its position at the top of this national category for five of the past six years, as determined by the Institute of International Education (IIE) with support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
