A field of 72 golfers participated in the inaugural Arcadia University Athletic Department golf outing fundraiser on a sunny summer afternoon at Old York Road Country Club on Monday, June 23, which raised funds to benefit Arcadia’s 300-plus student-athletes.

The outing was deemed a tremendous success by those who participated, and the athletic department will look to make the experience even better in the years to come with what it hopes to build into an annual tradition.

“On behalf of the entire Arcadia Athletic Department, I’d like to thank all of the donors, golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and the amazing staff at Old York Road Country Club for their support in making this such a special and successful event,” said Assistant to the Athletic Director Erin Eddinger, who oversaw the planning and execution of the event. “I’m very excited at the potential for the golf outing to become an annual tradition.”

The 2014 Arcadia Athletics Golf Outing featured a barbeque lunch, 18 holes at the private, member-only Old York Road Country Club, cocktail hour, and dinner. The golf portion of the day featured 13 different contests that tested the various skills of the participating golfers, while the dinner portion of the day included remarks from Frank Vitetta, who is a member of Arcadia’s Board of Trustees and is a Past President of Old York Road Country Club.

The team of Jo Bennett, Eva Korolishin, Wayne Morra, and Colin Pippert won the scramble-format tournament with a 59. The team of Tom D’Alonzo, Rob DeMichele, Al Hostetter, and Jerry Kennedy finished second, while the pairing of Geoff Brandon, Tom Jordan, Andrew Mackillop, and Charles Mandracchia took home the third-place trophy.
