Former All-American and national champion Sarah Norris has been named head softball coach at Arcadia University, it was announced by director of athletics Brian Granata.

Norris arrives at Arcadia after leading the softball team at West Chester Henderson High School from 2013 to 2014. In her first season, she led the Warriors to their first league championship in 32 years and was named the Ches-Mont League Coach of the Year. Henderson posted a record of 35-8 in her two seasons as head coach.

“We are very excited to have Sarah join our staff at Arcadia and feel that she has a bright future ahead of her,” said Granata, director of Athletics at Arcadia University. “She has a strong softball pedigree and we are confident that she will do a great job leading our softball program.”

Norris started her coaching career as an assistant at NCAA Division II West Chester University, where she was involved in all facets of the Golden Rams’ program. West Chester went 34-19 in 2011, setting a program record for wins in a season, and advanced to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship. She coached seven All-PSAC East performers, including the 2010 PSAC East Player of the Year.

“I am honored and excited to become the head softball coach at Arcadia,” said Norris. “I feel privileged to be with such an accomplished program and am ready to continue leading the Arcadia softball team to success while maintaining the traditions and characteristics of the University.”

Norris also served as head softball hitting instructor at All-Star Baseball Academy from 2011 to 2012, where she planned, coordinated, and executed individual and group lessons for middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes.

A four-year standout third baseman at NCAA Division II Lock Haven University, Norris earned First-Team All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in each of her four collegiate seasons and earned Third-Team NFCA All-America honors as a junior. She helped lead the Eagles to their first-ever national championship in 2006, and led Lock Haven to a second national title in 2009. The four-time First-Team All-PSAC East selection led the Eagles to four consecutive regional and PSAC titles.

The West Chester, Pa., native finished her playing career ranked among the Lock Haven and PSAC career and single-season leaders in numerous offensive categories, and finished as the Eagles’ career leader in hits (232), runs (176), home runs (55), slugging percentage (.619), total bases (439), and at-bats (709).

Norris earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lock Haven in May 2009.
