Junior back and midfielder Melia Ochsner scored her first two goals of the season to lead the Arcadia University women’s soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Rosemont College in the championship match of the Arcadia Fall Classic.

Ochsner scored her first goal of the season as a scramble ensued off a corner kick. Sophomore forward Karis Poore’s shot was stopped and Ochsner was there to put home the rebound in the 26th-minute. She then headed in a corner kick from senior forward and midfielder Kim Canfield in the 40th-minute to put the Knights (3-1-0) ahead 2-0. Canfield then setup Poore’s first goal of the season 2:10 later to give Arcadia 3-0 lead at the half.

The Knights kept the pressure on in the second half, which resulted in two additional goals for the 5-0 final. Sophomore forward Lennon Kramer took a pass from Canfield and flicked it over the Ravens’ defense and sophomore keeper Jenna Kaiser for her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 60th minute, and sophomore back Alyssa Ferraro netted her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute to cap the scoring in the game.

Canfield finished the game with a career-high three assists, and now leads the team with five helpers this season.

Senior keeper Veronica Willig didn’t face a shot on goal during her 60 minutes in net as her record improved to 3-1-0 for the season. Freshman Natalie Toner also didn’t see a shot on goal in the final 30 minutes of play.

Arcadia outshot Rosemont (1-2-1) 30-5 in the match and took 12 of the 13 corner kicks in the game.

The Knights will next travel to Eastern University on Thursday, Sept. 11, for the makeup date of the Haverford Kickoff Classic consolation game that was unable to be played to completion due to lightning and darkness last week. It will be replayed in its entirety starting at 4:30 p.m.
