The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice, the Pan African Studies Collective, and the Criminal Justice Society held its annual Social Justice Week from March 21 to 24, which focused on raising awareness about violence against women.

The weeklong symposium featured presentations and lectures on a wide range of topics, such as the increase in awareness campaigns and the rise of campus sexual assaults.

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice also recognized students who engaged in activism on campus to promote social justice. This year, the Department awarded criminal justice majors Ayesha Bryan ’16 and Shawn Brennan ’16 the Agent of Social Change Award, which recognizes student engagement in social activism. Both students were recognized for their work with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, presenting their academic research at a national conference, and organizing social justice related events on campus.
