Dr. Grady to Publish on English Poet John Donne
Dr. Hugh Grady, professor emeritus of English, will publish John Donne and Baroque Allegory: The Aesthetics of Fragmentation, a study of lyric poetry written by John Donne between the 1590s and his death in 1631, through Cambridge University Press in 2017.
Traditionally a Shakespearean scholar, Dr. Grady decided to expand research he completed for his 1978 dissertation on Donne, a contemporary of Shakespeare, after retiring from Arcadia University in 2014. His upcoming book explores Donne’s use of fragmented structures to reflect intellectual and social crises of the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
