Abbey Ryan ’03, associate professor of Art and Design and recipient of the inaugural Norman Johnston Faculty Fellowship, is featured in four art exhibitions across the country this fall and winter.

Her painting “Two Peaches with Leaves” is showcased on the postcard for the Tri-State Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary Trompe l’Oeil, on display at the John F. Peto Museum in Island Heights, N.J., through Dec. 10. Trompe l‘Oeil paintings are styles that “trick the eye,” giving the illusion that the object of focus in the painting is real.

Ryan will be featured in Under a Vast Sky: American Women Artists 2017 Annual Master & Signature Members International Juried Exhibition at Tucson Desert Art Museum in Arizona from Oct. 13 to Dec. 3. The Oct. 14 – Nov. 19 AbstrAction, Fall National Juried Exhibition at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato, Calif., will include Ryan’s work. The exhibit will be juried by Catherine Clark, owner of Catherine Clark Gallery, San Francisco and New York City.

Finally, Ryan will be included in Perspectives of the American Experience: A National Juried Exhibition of American Women Artists in the Rockwell Museum in Corning, N.Y., from Jan. 19 to April 22, 2018. This exhibition is centered around artists with a contemporary or traditional style whose work represents their individual perspectives of the “American Experience.”

Sept. 23 marked the 10th anniversary of Ryan’s first “painting a day” program, which raises funds through a “painting a day” event each year for The Jami Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship.
