Physical Therapy Research Award Named for Dr. Craik
In recognition of Dean of the College of Health Sciences Dr. Rebecca Craik’s scholarly achievements, commitment to higher education, and contributions to the physical therapy field, Alvernia University’s Department of Physical Therapy has named its student research award the Rebecca L. Craik Award for Excellence in Critical Inquiry.
Dr. Craik, who will serve as keynote speaker at Alvernia’s first annual Department of Physical Therapy Research Symposium on May 10, was also recognized for “impacting the journey of several faculty within [Alvernia’s] program.”
“I remember the dedication of the E. Jane Carlin Wing of the Health Science building at Arcadia as if it were yesterday,” said Dr. Christopher H. Wise ’91M, professor and chair of Alvernia’s Department of Physical Therapy. “Just as the students of Arcadia have benefited from the memory of Dr. Carlin’s contributions, we anticipate that [Dr. Craik’s] scholarly pursuits… will challenge students toward contributing to the body of evidence that will guide our profession into the future.”
The Rebecca L. Craik Award for Excellence in Critical Inquiry will be awarded annually to a DPT student research group that completes and presents a research project that embodies Dr. Craik’s commitment to the promotion of physical therapy through meaningful scholarship.
