DPT Students, Alumni, Faculty Present at Combined Sections Meeting
Students, alumni, and faculty from Arcadia’s Department of Physical Therapy presented at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) 2018 Combined Sections Meeting in New Orleans, La., from Feb. 21 to 24.
Throughout the weekend, DPT representatives held platform presentations, poster and education sessions, and interactive workshops that touched on outpatient care, reconstruction and rehabilitation methods, pain prevention and management, geriatric therapy, sport injury, and interprofessional education. Students and faculty addressed a range of conditions, including pressure ulcers, stroke, concussion, Parkinson’s disease, HIV, immunodeficiencies, vertigo, and hip, knee, joint, and rotator cuff injury.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to orthopaedic practice, Dr. Philip McClure, professor and chair of Physical Therapy, received the Paris Distinguished Service Award from APTA’s Orthopaedic Section.
Additionally, Kristin J. Krosschell ’12TDPT received the Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy’s Stephen Haley Research Award to support her pediatric spinal muscular atrophy research, and Nikki L. Gilroy ’04DPT took home APTA’s Excellence in Home Health Clinical Practice Award, which recognizes physical therapists who provide excellent and innovative care in the home setting.
